Beta (Unity 3D), 2023

UPB Runners

UPB Runners is an endless runner made in Unity 3D, fully programmed by me. This project highlights my skills in C#, where I developed a custom-built player controller with smooth and realistic animations. I manually created the physics to ensure precise and engaging gameplay.

In addition to the core mechanics, I focused extensively on optimization and lighting. These efforts improved the game's performance and visual appeal, demonstrating my ability to enhance both functionality and aesthetics.

UPB Runners showcases my technical skills and ability to handle complex game development tasks independently. From scripting and physics to optimization and lighting, this project reflects my comprehensive skill set and dedication to creating high-quality, polished games.

Demo (Unreal Engine 5), November 2023

Castle Breakers

Created as my final project for the Unreal Engine certification, this game showcases everything I learned during my training. It includes cinematics, particle effects, camera shake, and an audio system, combining these elements to create a comprehensive demonstration of my skills.

The entire game was programmed by me, highlighting my ability to handle all aspects of development. I used free character models, allowing me to focus on programming and integration, demonstrating mytechnical capabilities.

This project is special because it represents significant growth in my career. Completing it marked a new era in my skills as a game developer, reflecting my dedication to learning and my ability to apply complex concepts effectively.

Demo (Unreal Engine 5), 2024

Skateboard Simulator

This project was a solo endeavor, developed entirely by me in just 15 hours. My goal was to showcase my ability to create a functional game over a weekend, demonstrating my coding skills using Unreal Engine's blueprint and C++ under tight deadlines.

Technically, I focused primarily on the player controller in order to capture the authentic feel of riding a skateboard. Significant attention was given to the physics, ensuring realistic interactions between the player, skateboard, obstacles, and jumps.

Additional features include Mixamo animations, a points system, and environment design. While the game is far from market-ready and has plenty of room for improvement, the challenge was to create something functional within a short time frame.

Ganadero Inteligente (The Game)

I developed a WebGL game for COP 16 in Colombia as a freelance project, taking responsibility for most of the development. The primary challenges were optimizing the game for WebGL and creating algorithms to simulate natural cow behavior in a dynamic environment. I also implemented interactions between the farmer, the seeds, and the cows to enhance gameplay

The project was completed in just one month, highlighting my ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines while maintaining quality. It also reflects my teamwork and problem-solving skills, as I managed to deliver a polished product under significant time constraints.

Demo (Unity AR/VR), 2024

¿Porque No Yo?

This project was made for the Oculus Meta Quest 2, utilizing the Meta All in One toolkit for Unity developers. In this demo, users can interact in various ways, such as grabbing body parts to assemble a basic human body and touching UI buttons to advance through stages of the experience. The interactions are designed to be intuitive, allowing users to navigate the demo using just their hands.

My role involved developing the grabbing and touching interactions using hand tracking, crucial for creating an immersive VR experience. I focused on ensuring the interactions were smooth and responsive, enhancing user engagement. This project introduced me to VR development in Unity, expanding my skill set and demonstrating my proficiency in creating interactive and engaging VR content.

Personal Demo (Unity AR/VR), 2024

BasketbAR

BasketbAR is an augmented reality project developed in Unity 3D using Vuforia. The game involves shooting basketballs into a virtual hoop that appears on top of a Coca-Cola can, transforming the can's top into the hoop. I integrated Vuforia with Unity and the can, ensuring a smooth AR experience. I also developed the physics for throwing the basketball, including a curve effect on the ball’s trajectory.

Additionally, I created a comprehensive scoring system to track player performance and enhance the game's competitive aspect. This project highlights my skills in AR integration, physics simulation, and game mechanics development, showcasing my technical expertise in Unity 3D and Vuforia, as well as my creativity in designing engaging gameplay elements.

ShadowBank

During my university studies, I developed a 2D game using Unity's Universal Render Pipeline (URP) to experiment with lighting. The game features a thief breaking into a bank at night, and my primary focus was creating atmospheric lighting to evoke a shadowy, tense mood. This project helped me master URP lighting techniques while developing mechanics to enhance the gameplay experience.

The challenges included implementing patrol AI, character tracking without pathfinding, and sequential actions that resolved puzzle-like levels. This project demonstrated my ability to design and program engaging mechanics while experimenting with tools and techniques that pushed my skills forward.

Breath Andd Pass

Early in my career, I developed a 2D game while exploring Unity for the first time. Although I lacked experience with design patterns, this project marked an important step in learning the fundamentals of game development. I implemented patrol behaviors and 2D movement mechanics, gaining confidence in Unity's tools and workflows.

The game also featured attack mechanics and special abilities such as invincibility and speed boosts. These elements allowed me to experiment with player mechanics and refine my programming skills. This project reflects the foundational stage of my journey as a game developer, where curiosity and experimentation were key.

Demo (Unity 2D), 2023

Procedural Illumination

In this project, I created a demo featuring a character that walks procedurally to the rhythm of "Nadie Sabe" by Bad Bunny. The character's movement is synced with the song, moving forward only when the singer sings. This added a dynamic and engaging aspect to the demo, ensuring that the character's actions were perfectly in time with the music.

I utilized a frequency detector to enhance the visual experience. This detector changed the lighting, turning lights on and off and altering their colors based on the song's frequencies. Additionally, the demo included symbolic actions tied to the song's lyrics, with the character appearing in different poses and performing various actions as the song progressed. This project showcases my ability to integrate audio with character animation and lighting effects, creating an immersive and interactive experience.
